Quote: It does affect me. It affects all pirates in EVE. Most people don't see past the blinky to a corp ticker until you point it out to them. Your (lack of?) reputation impugns our reputation. Not a whole lot I can do about it, granted. Still annoying.
Moreover, I was responding to the claim that no pirates in EVE honor ransoms, that honoring them is an illusion created by "prey," and all sorts of other groundless statements.
This right here is - I believe - The crux of the whole debate that this topic has promoted.
I've seen established and respected Pirates post in these Forums that when other Pirates and their CORPS do not Honor 1 VS 1s, Ransoms, etc. It only serves to give all of these other so-called respected Pirates and their CORPs a bad reputation (If that can even happen). Its also been stated by these same individuals that behaviour like this only serves to limit those revenue streams for the "respected" Pirates as outlined above.
I've also seen these very same "repected" Pirates say that when this occurs, its the rest of the Pirate Community's responsibility to show those offenders the error of their ways.
That begs the question - With everything thats come to be understood and found about about THIS CORP's "modus operandi", what is going to be the "repected" Pirates' and their CORPs' response to this behaviour?
My bet is that out of all of the statements I've read about in this thread, It won't mean squat when it comes to actually resolving this to the satifaction of any of the other Pirate CORPs that have posted in this thread.
"PC" seems to be pretty much happy with the outcome of the Encounter as this is the their "stated" way of operating.
Whats distressing is that with all of the posts about honoring 1 VS 1s, Ransom, etc., punishing those Who transgress by not following posted YARRR... etiquette (meaning its been posted to the community as "This is how you should act if you want to get away with your ship and pod once you've been ransomed") - Whats really is at stake here is the following...
Is anything You Guys say worth believing at all after this?
I have seen how Pirates in this forum will post about how this is an abhorrent practise, and that it should not be condoned by any so-called "respectable" Pirates.
All of the above said;
> If "PC" and it's Operators cannot be held to their word... > Other Pirates and their CORPs do nothing about It... > We still see the same ole **** about "This is how you should ransom people, or "this is how you should do 1 VS 1s", etc.
Why in God's green earth would you expect ANY so-called "CUSTOMER" to believe ANYTHING that ANY of the Pirates say, ANYWHERE, and at ANYTIME???
You HAVE to demonstrate good form to be thought of as HAVING good form. Plain and simple...
While the majority of you may not see this as an issue, i'm betting that some of you will see this as what it is.
That is, it is others who neither care about their rep. or the rep. of their chosen profession (Pirating in EVE that is), that are destroying a profitable revenue stream from those who have made considerable efforts to guarentee those revenues exist.
Simply put, as there is apparently no point in taking a Pirate for their word, Eject and head to station if you're going down. They will only Kill you after they've podded you and collected a ransom anyways.
The above statement is now the issue that the Pirate community will need to deal with. If they don't deal with it, the Ransom, the 1 VS 1s, and all the rest of it will go down the tubes, and there will be even less Victims (Ooops, i mean "Customers") than you have right now.
I will hold judgement though, and see what is posted to this as a reply, but remember this as well before you do post.
I have raised serious questions here for the Pirate Community, and it is by the responses to these questions that you will all be measured...
